Keeping residents safe is our number one priority. Our public safety record includes the following:
- Since Mayor Turner’s election in 1990 crime is down substantially
- Instituted a Reverse 911 call system that allows us to contact Weehawken Residents in the event of an emergency.
- Supported the North Hudson Fire Regionalization which increased the number of fire fighters who respond to emergencies and allows for a quicker and more efficient response.
- Supported Weehawken’s involvement in the Hudson County Municipal Alliance Against Drugs and Alcohol. This program provides funding for Weehawken’s Peer Pride Leadership Program, Drug and Alcohol Awareness assembly programs, and the annual Weehawken Say No to Drugs Poster contest.
